Capacity Building for the Field
BISCF provides one-on-one strategic assistance to partners throughout the full direct democracy lifecycle. This includes the implementation of initiatives that have passed as well as incubation efforts for issue campaigns.
BISCF also provides in-person and virtual training to issue advocates, including c3 advocates and funders about what direct democracy is, the process, and how they can legally engage in issue campaigns throughout the full lifecycle, including implementation, legal strategies, leadership development, as well as 501 (c)(3) issue organizing strategies.
Our training also incorporates the principles and practices of our Declaration of Equity and Accountability (DoE) – a tool we developed for advocates, funders, and stakeholders to address race, power, and privilege dynamics throughout the lifecycle of an issue campaign.
BISCF also convenes two cohorts of practitioners, our Peer Cohort and Skills Building Cohorts. These groups convene to share best practices with each other and learn from experts about their current challenges and opportunities.
